my shoe collection part 38

these are some of my fave all purpose wedges. they are super casual, and i get tons of use out of them because of that. i got them from target online several summers ago for $4.99 since they were on 75% off clearance.

honest scrap award

I have received a fabulous award from Tamela at A Brunette Making it One Day at a Time
The rules are:

  1. Tell everyone 10 things about you they may not know, but are true

  2. Tag 5 bloggers with the award

This one is a hard one for me since I have already shared 200 things about me for my 200th post. But, I will try.

  1. I prefer white chocolate over any other chocolate. One of my favorite holiday memories is making white chocolate covered pretzels with my mom.

  2. I never ever like steaks. I mean ever. I just don't get what the big deal is, and now I guess I never will.

  3. I generally drink diet beverages but hate diet gingerale or diet orange soda.

  4. I prefer phone calls to texting though I have been a texting fiend recently.

  5. I currently own 75 pairs of shoes including flip flops, heels, flats, boots, and sneakers. I just counted them a few days ago as I was reorganizing them. My dream would be to have a closet just for shoes and handbags.

  6. Most of my current fave shows are on CBS (All three CSIs, NCIS, Numbers, Harper's Island, Cold Case, Without a Trace, Survivor, Criminal Minds, Eleventh Hour) though I was a NBC girl as a child. The Cosby show, Family Ties, Friends, and Seinfeld were the best.

  7. When I was a wee girl like preschool age, I wanted to be a nurse. No such desire now.

  8. I don't get the big deal about candles. I got dragged to a Candle Lite party once, but only bought something for a boyfriend who was a fan of their products.

  9. I've never had a passport.

  10. I have grave difficulty not getting food on my shirts especially when eating chinese food.

I must be hungry considering how many of those were about food.

To those I wish to pass the award to:

  1. Shell of Stuttering Shell

  2. Annette of Fairy Blog Mother Blog

  3. MamaBearMills of Pour Some Sugar on Me

  4. Lorie at Be Different Act Normal

  5. Kathie at My Net Finds

my shoe collection part 37

I got these pewter super comfy heels from Target online for $4.99 as they were 75% off. I am no longer much of a fan of square toed heels, but they are so comfy that I will probably keep wearing them.

giveaway winnings

I won one of the giveaways that Fantabulously Frugal had during her month of giveaways back in March. I won the lemon and blueberry giveaway. The package had 3 bath bombs, 3 different soaps, blueberry herbal tea, lemon lip balm(Bigelow & Co is one of my fave lip glosses already. So, I definitely loved this one.), and a white chocolate bar with lemon candy bits.

shoes from a sweetheart blogger

Knowing what a shoe horse I am, I was uber pleased that super sweet blogger mamabearmills at pour some sugar on me sent me these fabulous Steve Madden heels. I can't help myself showing them off whenever I wear them since they are so striking. She told me that she hadn't worn them in the 4 years she had them. But, they have a happy home in my closet.

i love, love, love a wedge especially during the spring and summer. Being black sandals, I have found these to be uber multifunctional. I like the woven rafia sides and slimmed wedge heel. I picked them up last summer from Target online for $6.24 since they were 75% off.

more curtain inspiration

I recently found more curtain inspiration while at goodwill. For some reason, I keep finding single curtains. I am unsure what anyone would use single curtains for other than refashioning. Yet again, I am hoping to refashion this one into a summery skirt.

Thoughts on MJ

This week has been a bit on the wacky side with several celebrities passing away, but far and away, the one that took me the most by surprise was the passing of Michael Jackson. I was getting ready to go the monthly PRIDE meeting with friends when I received a text telling me Michael Jackson was dead from my friend, Paul who is a Michael Jackson impersonator. In fact, the picture above is of Paul and I at a Halloween party this past Halloween. I was so shocked I had to search online to verify this wasn't some sick joke. When I finally saw the confirmation online, I have to say I was even more awed to realize he was 50. Part of me will always remember as the King of the Pop from the 80s. If drugs were a factor in his passing as the media is indicating is a possibility, I am especially saddened.
Over the last few days, all forms of media seem to be focused on Michael Jackson. I must admit I have found myself watching numerous tributes on TV. I just can't stop watching. Watching the tributes especially the 80s videos takes me back to my childhood. I remember being told by my mom that the Thriller video would give me nightmares, and it would have. I remember being a Brownie and having one of our calendar campaigns having a theme based on Beat It. For the longest time, we would sing We Are the World on the bus riding home from school.
Despite all of the wackiness that made him fodder for the tabloids, I want to remember the MJ of the 80s. I will not be crying over his passing. I just can't bring myself to do that over any celebrity. However, as a child of the 80s, I will easily say the King of Pop will be missed.

i got a present that i think only me and a 3 year would be happy with

One of my coworkers who is also an elementary school teacher was cleaning out her classroom and brought me this fabulous box of crayons many of which were already broken.
I am so glad she thought of me. I immediately wanted to begin playing with them to see what interesting swirly crayons I could make. Here are my first crayon creations.

I will add them as a special limited edition offering on my etsy site soon.
